A tragic fire broke out in Mutitu village, Mathira Constituency, on the evening of Tuesday, July 15, 2025, claiming the lives of two children, ages 8 and 4. The fire, which occurred around 7 p.m., engulfed the family home while the children were sleeping, leaving residents in shock and mourning.
Despite neighbors’ desperate attempts to put out the flames, the two young siblings perished in the blaze. A third child, a Grade 9 girl, was in the house but managed to escape and raise the alarm. However, it was too late to save her younger siblings.
According to family members, the incident has left more questions than answers. The relatives expressed confusion, as no fire had been lit in the house at the time of the incident.
A relative, Wizzy Chris, shared the devastating news with Inooro TV, stating: “There was a huge fire at home yesterday and my cousin’s children perished. We were returning from the hospital after picking up their mother, who had been discharged when we received a call that the house was on fire.”
The family is now calling for a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire. “We are asking authorities to investigate this matter as no fire had been lit in the house, and we are wondering how the fire even started,” said another family member.
Authorities have yet to provide further details on the investigation, but residents remain deeply concerned about this mysterious and tragic incident.
