Zanzibar Introduces Motorcycles to Strengthen School Oversight

Zanzibar, March 19, 2026 – The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training in Zanzibar has deployed motorcycles to education officials across the islands to enhance school supervision and improve education standards.

Permanent Secretary Khamis Abdalla Said handed over the keys to Regional Education Officer for Mjini Magharibi, Mohamed Abdalla Moh’d, on behalf of education officers from 11 districts spanning four regions.

The motorcycles will enable officials to travel efficiently between schools, ensuring timely inspections, monitoring of teaching quality, and support for students and staff.

The initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen education administration, particularly in remote areas where access has traditionally been a challenge.

Officials say the motorcycles will improve oversight, facilitate faster reporting, and support the implementation of policies aimed at raising learning outcomes across Zanzibar’s schools.
