The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has warned that several parts of Tanzania may experience heavy rainfall in the coming days, raising concerns about possible flooding in vulnerable areas.
According to TMA, the expected rainfall could affect different regions across the country, particularly areas that are prone to flooding during the rainy season. The weather agency advised residents living in low-lying and flood-prone areas to take precautionary measures to avoid potential risks.
Meteorologists say the heavy rains are part of the seasonal weather patterns that normally affect parts of the country during this period. However, they cautioned that the intensity of the rains could lead to rising water levels in rivers and drainage systems, which may result in flooding in some communities.
Authorities have urged local governments and disaster management teams to remain alert and prepare for possible emergencies. Residents have also been encouraged to follow weather updates issued by the Tanzania Meteorological Authority and cooperate with local officials in case evacuation measures are required.
The warning comes as several East African countries continue to experience heavy rains that have previously caused flooding, displacement of residents, and damage to infrastructure in some areas.
TMA says it will continue to monitor weather developments and provide regular updates to keep the public informed.
