Muslim Charity Run Raises Funds to Feed the Needy Ahead of Ramadan

With only a few days left before the start of Ramadan, a Muslim charity organisation has organised a fundraising run in Kampala to support vulnerable families during the holy month.

The run, organised by Al Salam Charity Organisation in partnership with other groups, was held on Sunday morning and flagged off at Lugogo. It attracted a large number of participants, including youth, families, and community leaders.

The main goal of the event was to raise money to buy food for less privileged people, especially orphans, widows, the elderly, and low-income families, who often struggle to meet basic needs during Ramadan.

Supporting the needy during the holy month

Organisers said Ramadan is a time of fasting, prayer, and charity, and helping those in need is a key part of the Islamic faith. They noted that many families face food shortages during the month, making such initiatives crucial.

Funds raised from the run will be used to provide food packages, including staple items, to needy households so they can observe Ramadan with dignity.

Community participation praised

Participants praised the initiative, saying it promotes unity, compassion, and healthy living while also giving back to society. Some runners said the event allowed people from different backgrounds to come together for a common cause.

Al Salam Charity Organisation thanked all partners and participants for their support and encouraged the public to continue helping the less fortunate beyond Ramadan.

Call for continued support

The organisers said similar charity activities will be carried out throughout the holy month and called on individuals, businesses, and well-wishers to contribute toward supporting vulnerable communities.

Ramadan is expected to begin later this month, depending on the sighting of the moon.
