KENYA: From Streets to Success: How Samuel Overcame Betrayal and Hardship

Life can take cruel turns, especially when hurt comes from those meant to protect us. This is the story of Samuel, a man from Kakamega, Kenya, whose life was upended after the death of his father.

After his father passed away, Samuel’s stepmother revealed her long-hidden resentment. She called him worthless, labeled him a burden, and eventually kicked him out of the family home, leaving him with only the clothes on his back. Family members remained silent—or even sided with her—leaving Samuel stranded and heartbroken.

For years, Samuel wandered the streets of western Kenya. He slept in unfinished buildings, begged for food, and survived on the mercy of strangers. Many days passed without a meal. People laughed at him and treated him as though he had no value. Yet deep down, Samuel believed he was destined for better, though every attempt to improve his life seemed doomed. Temporary jobs vanished, money never lasted, and misfortune followed him everywhere.

At his lowest point, he feared he was cursed. One night, he confided in an elderly man at a roadside shelter. The man spoke of unseen forces, envy, and harmful intentions from those close to us that can hinder a person’s destiny. This conversation transformed Samuel’s thinking, giving him the mental strength to persevere despite adversity.

Through determination, patience, and resilience, Samuel eventually rebuilt his life. He became successful, proving that even the deepest wounds and harshest betrayals can be overcome. Those who once scorned him, including his stepmother, now tried to show affection—but Samuel had learned that his worth was never defined by others.
