Final Group of Freed Nigerian Schoolchildren Set to Reunite With Their Families

The last group of Nigerian schoolchildren who were kidnapped from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri are expected to be reunited with their families.

The children were part of more than 300 pupils and 12 staff members who were abducted on November 21, 2025. The school is located in Papiri, a small hamlet about seven hours’ drive from Minna, the capital of Niger state.

This kidnapping was one of the worst school abductions in Nigeria in recent years. A photo released by Reuters shows bunk beds inside a dormitory at St. Mary’s School, highlighting where the children lived before they were taken.
