Ruto Orders Tough Crackdown on Political Gangs as Violence Rises Across Kenya

President William Ruto has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, to take immediate and decisive action against political gangs accused of causing chaos at public events and by-elections across the country.

The President issued the directive on Monday while speaking at the Administration Police Training College in Embakasi during the graduation of 5,892 chiefs and assistant chiefs who had completed security and paralegal training.

Ruto expressed concern over the growing cases of violence linked to politicians who hire youth groups to intimidate rivals, disrupt rallies and create fear among citizens.

“Those using young people to cause chaos, disrupt citizens, and endanger national security will be dealt with firmly. I have instructed the Inspector General to take legal action to bring this to an end,” President Ruto said.
