Police in Kampala are investigating the mysterious disappearance of 24-year-old Bushura Najjuko, who went missing just two days before her wedding.
Najjuko, a resident of Katereke Cell in Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District, was last seen on September 25, 2025, when she left home at around 9 a.m. to visit a bridal makeup salon in Nakivubo, Kampala.
According to her mother, Aisha Nalukenge, Najjuko had been busy preparing for her wedding to Faruk Mugalu, a resident of Kagoma, which was scheduled for Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said Najjuko reportedly handed her wedding and changing dresses to a boda boda rider, Ali Kivumbi, asking him to deliver them home. She promised to follow shortly after but never returned.
“The make-up shop owner, from Shafura’s Bride Make-Up Shop in Nakivubo, who was the last person to see her, says they parted ways at the New Taxi Park since they were heading in different directions,” Owoyesigyire noted.
Police suspect Najjuko may have fled to avoid being forced into a marriage she did not want. Investigations are ongoing, and her family is appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
Her disappearance has shocked the community, leaving many relatives and friends distressed as they were eagerly preparing for the big day.
