The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has officially unveiled President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign poster for the upcoming 2026 general elections. The event took place at the NRM headquarters in Kampala and was led by the party’s top leaders, including First National Vice Chairman Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo and Second National Vice Chairperson Rebecca Kadaga.
“This poster will be our symbol throughout the election period,” Kigongo said. “We respect Ugandans who have supported us since we came to power. Now, we are ready to start fresh and continue working for the country.”
Kigongo appealed to all Ugandans to support the NRM as it seeks a new five-year mandate, urging the party to return to its roots and work methods that brought success.
NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong spoke about the party’s achievements in areas like peace, infrastructure, health, agriculture, and security. He said the party’s strength lies in its people, pointing to the recent primaries where over 2 million leaders were selected from village to national level—something no other party can match.
During the same ceremony, the NRM also revealed its campaign theme for the 2026 elections: “Protecting the Gains and Making a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status.” Todwong explained this means the party will focus on preserving the progress made and pushing Uganda towards becoming a high middle-income country.
Senior Presidential Advisor Moses Byaruhanga added that the party’s manifesto for 2026-2031 is being finalized. The manifesto will highlight what the NRM has achieved in the last five years and outline plans to protect and build on those gains.
NRM’s Director of Information and Publicity, Emmanuel Dombo, said the newly unveiled poster will become the official brand of the party, appearing on posters, t-shirts, and caps during the campaign.
As Uganda prepares for the 2026 elections, the NRM is positioning itself strongly with clear messaging and a unified image, aiming to maintain its hold on power.
