Tanzania is celebrating after a thrilling 1-0 victory over Mauritania in the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), played on August 6, 2025, at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The only goal of the match came in the 89th minute. Experienced defender Shomari Kapombe finished off a clever pass from Iddy Nado, sending the home crowd into wild celebration.
His perfectly timed run and calm finish past Mauritanian goalkeeper Abderrahmane Sarr was enough to seal the win.

Just when it seemed the match would end in a draw, Kapombe’s goal gave Tanzania the edge.
