Ugandan Bishops finish Adlimina in Rome

The Catholic bishops of Uganda, under the Uganda Episcopal Conference, have successfully concluded their Ad Limina Apostolorum visit in Rome, marking an important moment of reflection and connection with the global Church.

Speaking to Ugandan priests, religious members, seminarians, and lay faithful studying in Rome, Rt. Rev. Joseph Antony Zziwa addressed the gathering on behalf of all the bishops. The meeting followed a Holy Mass led by Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira.

Bishop Zziwa expressed gratitude for the opportunity granted by the Pope, noting that the visit, which took place from March 15 to 21, 2026, allowed the bishops to strengthen their unity with the Mother Church.

During their stay, the bishops held an audience with the Pope, where they presented a report on the state of the Church in Uganda. According to Bishop Zziwa, the Holy Father was well informed about the progress of evangelization efforts across the country.

He also used the occasion to encourage Ugandans living and studying in Rome to remain united, steadfast in their faith, and closely connected to their home Church. He wished them success in their academic journeys and urged them to prepare for future pastoral service upon their return to Uganda.

The Ad Limina Apostolorum visit is a mandatory and periodic obligation for Catholic diocesan bishops. Typically held every five years, it provides an opportunity for bishops to report on the condition of their dioceses and to strengthen ties with the Vatican.
