Kampala – A tragic incident has shocked traders and shoppers at Ham Shopping Mall in central Kampala after a young businessman, identified as Fred, died following a violent confrontation with a colleague.
Fred, the owner of Fred Garments, was known as one of the most hardworking young traders at the popular shopping center.
According to eyewitnesses, the fight started as a heated verbal exchange between Fred and his workmate over a business disagreement.
What began as an argument quickly turned physical. Witnesses report that Fred was struck with a powerful blow to the jaw during the scuffle, causing him to collapse.
Despite efforts by bystanders to rush him to a nearby clinic, Fred was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police were immediately called to the scene and have since launched an investigation into the incident.
The alleged attacker was detained and taken to CPS Kampala for questioning as traders gathered outside the mall demanding justice for their fallen colleague.
Fred’s friends and fellow businesspeople have described him as a humble and ambitious man who inspired many young traders in downtown Kampala.
His sudden death has left the entire shopping community in mourning, with several shops temporarily closing in solidarity.
Authorities have urged traders to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid violence that can lead to such irreversible tragedies.
