The Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, has ordained four deacons as priests and eight seminarians as deacons during a colorful ceremony held at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoraza Cathedral grounds in Kabale Municipality.
The new priests are Rev. Fr. Steven Niwandinda from Ndama Parish, Rev. Fr. Mark Aheisibwe from Nyarushanje Parish, Rev. Fr. Frank Atuzarirwe from Kitanga Parish, and Rev. Fr. Onesmus Ahabwe from Muchahi Parish.
Those ordained as deacons include Dn. Peregrino Beinomugisha (Christ the King Parish), Dn. Adon Aturinde (Nyakishenyi Parish), Dn. Justus Turyatunga (Rubanda Parish), Dn. Ivan Ndamira (Mutolere Parish), Dn. Sostine Mugisha (Muko Parish), Dn. Deusdedit Niwagaba (Rushoroza Cathedral Parish), and Dn. Cyril Arthur Ayebazibwe (Rwanyena Parish).
In his homily, Bishop Rubaramira encouraged the newly ordained to remain strong in their calling and avoid compromising Christian values. He warned against pastoral laziness and urged them to resist worldly temptations.
“You have been called to serve, not to be served. Do not conform to the world, but stay faithful to your ministry. God promises in Joshua 1:5, ‘I will be with you as I was with Moses, and I will never desert you,’” the Bishop said.
He reminded the ordinands that, just like the Apostles who walked with Jesus and learned from Him before being sent out to teach others, they too are called to serve with humility, dedication, and love.
The event was attended by hundreds of Christians, priests, and religious leaders who gathered to celebrate this milestone in the life of the Church.
