TANZANIA: NECTA Releases 2025 Form Four Results as Pass Rate Improves

The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has released the 2025 Form Four examination results, showing a significant improvement in overall performance across the country.

According to NECTA, the national pass rate rose to 94.98 percent, reflecting better outcomes compared to previous years. Education officials say the improvement is a sign that ongoing reforms in teaching, learning, and examination management are beginning to bear fruit.

NECTA noted that more candidates qualified for further education and training, including advanced secondary education, colleges, and technical institutions. The results also showed a reduction in the number of students who failed, indicating stronger overall academic achievement.

Education stakeholders attributed the improved performance to several factors, including better teacher preparation, increased use of learning materials, closer supervision of schools, and greater emphasis on continuous assessment. Government investments in education infrastructure and teacher recruitment were also cited as key contributors.

However, NECTA and education experts acknowledged that challenges remain. Some regions and schools still performed below the national average, pointing to disparities in access to resources, qualified teachers, and learning environments. Authorities said targeted interventions will be introduced to support underperforming schools.

The Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to improving education quality nationwide and ensuring that all learners benefit equally from reforms. Parents and students were urged to access results through official NECTA channels and seek guidance on available education pathways.

With the improved pass rate, thousands of students are now expected to progress to higher levels of education, raising optimism about the future of Tanzania’s education sector and skilled workforce.
