Tanzania has created more than 53,000 jobs in the first 100 days of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s second term in office, marking a strong start to her new mandate.
According to government data, the jobs were generated across key sectors of the economy, including agriculture, manufacturing, services, construction, and small and medium-sized enterprises. The achievement reflects the government’s renewed focus on employment creation, economic growth, and private sector support.
Officials said the jobs resulted from targeted policies aimed at expanding markets, supporting local industries, improving access to finance, and promoting the use of technology. Special attention has been given to youth and women, who continue to face high unemployment rates.
The government has also invested in infrastructure projects, business-friendly reforms, and skills development programmes to stimulate job creation. These efforts are part of President Samia’s broader economic agenda to strengthen domestic production, attract investment, and reduce poverty.
Analysts note that delivering over 53,000 jobs within such a short period sends a positive signal to both citizens and investors, though they caution that sustaining job growth will require continued reforms, stable policies, and strong collaboration with the private sector.
As President Samia’s second term continues, the government has pledged to scale up employment programmes, support innovation, and ensure that economic growth translates into improved livelihoods for ordinary Tanzanians.
