One local entrepreneur interviewed in the report said that access to solar power helped him run a welding business from his village instead of renting a workspace in town. “Now I can work the whole day without worrying about fuel costs or power cuts,” he said.
Energy experts say that clean energy is not only reducing electricity expenses but is also helping combat environmental degradation caused by charcoal burning and diesel use.
Government officials welcomed the findings, noting that the study aligns with the national goal of expanding renewable energy to support rural industries.
They said ongoing projects—including solar mini-grids and rural electrification programs—will help more communities access affordable power.
However, the report also pointed out challenges, including the high initial cost of solar equipment and limited technical support in some regions.
The researchers recommended more government incentives, community training, and private-sector involvement to ensure sustainability.
