Ruto Challenges Opposition to Present Clear Development Plans

President William Ruto has once again challenged the United Opposition to articulate a concrete development agenda for Kenya, accusing them of focusing more on criticizing the government than offering viable solutions to the country’s challenges. Speaking at an interdenominational service in Chesombur, West Pokot County, the President emphasized that a leader must not only have a track record but also a clear plan to achieve their goals.

“Every leader must have a track record, must have a plan, and must explain how they will achieve it. I am ready with my track record, an agenda, and a plan and I know where the money will come from. Let them bring theirs,” Ruto said, urging the opposition to step forward with specifics.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s key priorities, including the development of infrastructure, expanding the national power grid, and boosting the agricultural sector. However, he stressed that achieving these goals would only be possible through peace, education, and placing the country’s national interests above individual gain.

During his visit to West Pokot, Ruto urged locals to foster lasting peace and stability in the region, which has been plagued by inter-communal violence in recent years. “Mambo ya stock theft imeisha. Hii January tuna-anza hisa ya kampuni ya Kenya Pipeline. Kujeni mnunue shares,” he said, announcing the launch of a new share offering for Kenya Pipeline Company, inviting residents to invest.

The President also made a direct appeal to civilians holding illegal firearms, urging them to surrender their weapons either to the police or to religious leaders. “Kila mtu mwenye ako na bunduki na sio polisi, harakisha ulete bunduki. Patie bishop ama polisi. Usipofanya hivyo, tutakuja kuchukua,” Ruto warned, emphasizing the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward illegal firearms.

On his visit, President Ruto also inspected the ongoing construction of the Barpelo–Tot–Marich Pass road, where he noted that Ksh. 15 billion has been allocated for the project. The road construction is being carried out in two phases, with contractors working on the Barpelo–Tot section and the Tot–Chesegon–Kibasi River stretch.
