Qatar Strongly Condemns Military Coup in Guinea-Bissau, Calls for Dialogue and Restoration of Constitutional Order

Doha: The State of Qatar has strongly condemned the military coup in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, urging all parties involved to prevent further escalation and to prioritize national stability.

In an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar called for resolving political disagreements through dialogue and peaceful means in order to safeguard state institutions and uphold the rule of law.

The Ministry expressed Qatar’s deep concern over the sudden military takeover that has plunged Guinea-Bissau into uncertainty. It emphasized the importance of restoring the legitimate political and constitutional process, highlighting that doing so would support the aspirations of the Bissau-Guinean people for development, stability, and long-term prosperity.

Qatar also underscored that stability in Guinea-Bissau would contribute to strengthening security across West Africa—particularly in the volatile Sahel region, where political upheaval and armed conflicts have intensified in recent years.

The statement comes as the international community continues to react to the unfolding crisis, with regional and global organizations calling for restraint and a swift return to constitutional governance following the military’s removal of elected leadership.
