President Ruto Unveils Four-Point Plan to Transform Nairobi into a World-Class City

President William Ruto has announced a four-pillar plan aimed at transforming Nairobi into a modern, well-planned, and developed capital city, similar to global cities like Singapore. He said Nairobi will lead Kenya’s overall development and set the pace for other counties.

The President spoke during a church service in Embakasi, Nairobi, where he said he is working closely with Governor Johnson Sakaja and other county leaders to make the plan a success. He assured Nairobi residents that the national government will fully support the county government to improve the city.

The first pillar of the plan focuses on making Nairobi a motorable city. President Ruto said poor roads and traffic congestion have made movement difficult for both vehicles and pedestrians. He has directed all Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to identify one critical road in their wards for upgrading. The national government will provide funds to improve these roads and open up the city.

The second pillar is cleaning up Nairobi. The President expressed concern over poor waste management and the constant dumping of garbage on streets. He said the government has already started clearing dumpsites and improving garbage collection in neighborhoods. To address the long-standing Dandora dumpsite problem
