President Museveni Urges NRM Leaders to Intensify Nationwide Mobilization Ahead of 2026 Elections

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on leaders of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to intensify mobilisation efforts across the country as Uganda enters the final stretch ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The President made the call during a meeting with NRM leaders, where he emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement, party unity and disciplined leadership in securing electoral victory and sustaining national stability. Museveni arrived at the meeting to a warm reception from party officials, underscoring the high-level nature of the engagement.

Museveni reminded NRM leaders that the strength of the party has historically been anchored in its connection with ordinary Ugandans, particularly at the village and parish levels. He urged leaders to actively engage communities, listen to their concerns and clearly communicate the party’s vision and achievements.

The President emphasized that mobilisation should go beyond politics and focus on explaining government programmes aimed at improving livelihoods, including wealth creation initiatives, service delivery reforms and socio-economic transformation. He noted that effective mobilisation helps citizens understand how government policies directly impact their daily lives.

Museveni further cautioned NRM leaders against complacency, stressing that victory in past elections should not be taken for granted. He called for discipline, coordination and unity within party structures, warning that internal divisions weaken mobilisation efforts and undermine public confidence.

The President also underscored the importance of peaceful campaigns and respect for electoral laws, urging party leaders to work closely with security agencies and electoral authorities to ensure a calm and orderly election process.

The meeting reaffirmed the NRM leadership’s commitment to strengthening party structures at all levels and mobilising support nationwide ahead of the 2026 polls, as President Museveni continues consultations with key political stakeholders across the country.
