President Museveni Orders Investigation into Alleged Misuse of PDM Funds in Mukono

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has ordered a full investigation into allegations of misuse of funds meant for household income generation in Mukono District. The funds, part of the government’s Parish Development Model (PDM), are intended to support rural communities in improving their livelihoods, but complaints have emerged that the money is being diverted for other purposes.

The investigation follows complaints from local residents, who have expressed concerns that the funds intended for poverty alleviation and household economic support are being misappropriated by individuals in charge of the distribution process. The PDM is a critical government initiative aimed at helping the poor move out of subsistence agriculture into the cash economy, but it has faced challenges in implementation in some areas.

President Museveni’s directive to probe the issue comes after complaints from several constituencies within Mukono, where reports of fund mismanagement have raised eyebrows. The government has promised to take swift action against any officials found guilty of diverting or mismanaging the PDM funds.

The President’s move has sparked a broader conversation about the effectiveness of Uganda’s flagship development programs, especially as the country heads into a crucial election period in 2026. PDM has been positioned as one of the key initiatives to address poverty, and the probe is seen as an important step toward restoring public trust in such programs.
