There was panic at Kowet Police Post in Siaya County on Thursday morning after a large snake entered the report office, causing fear among officers and members of the public.
According to a police report, the incident happened at around 8:00 a.m. while officers were on duty. The snake is said to have emerged from a nearby bush and slithered into the report office, forcing officers and civilians present to scatter in alarm.
Police said the reptile was difficult to identify because its skin closely resembled the green jungle-pattern uniform worn by officers, adding to the confusion and fear at the scene.
With the help of members of the public, the officers managed to kill the snake. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Later, officers from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) in Siaya responded to the scene. They documented the incident and took the snake away for records and further examination.
Police praised the quick response by officers and the public, noting that the situation was brought under control without any harm to people.
