New Partnership Aims to Make Homeownership More Affordable for Kenyans Locally and Abroad

In a groundbreaking effort to make homeownership more accessible and affordable, three key industry players—Optiven Limited, Everstrong Maskani LLP, and the Cooperative Bank of Kenya—have launched a joint initiative targeting both local and diaspora Kenyans.

Announced on July 17, 2025, the collaboration introduces a seamless solution to the often complex process of acquiring land, building homes, and securing financing. The program—dubbed the Maskani Bora Turnkey Project—aims to deliver quality homes within 12 months, all under a transparent, professionally managed framework.

Optiven Limited will guide clients in land acquisition and Everstrong Maskani LLP will oversee home design, construction, and project management.

Co-operative Bank of Kenya will offer mortgage loans of up to KSh 10.5 million, with homes capped at KSh 15 million under the Kenya Mortgage Refinancing Company (KMRC) guidelines.

Speaking about the initiative, George Wachiuri, CEO of Optiven Limited, emphasized the broader social impact:

“Our vision is to transform communities economically and socially. By enabling people to own homes through this collaboration, families are socially empowered.”

Japhet Kahindi Ponda, Head of Mortgage Finance at Cooperative Bank, confirmed that the financing package is available to both local and diaspora investors. The bank’s participation ensures buyers benefit from favorable loan terms aligned with KMRC’s affordable housing framework.

On the construction side, Henry Kyanda, Managing Partner at Everstrong Maskani LLP, stressed the importance of building trust:

“We do not require any money in advance. We will construct your home and hand over the keys. Throughout the process, customers will walk the journey with us, with evaluations, checks, and a detailed checklist at every stage.”

The initiative aims to eliminate common challenges in Kenya’s real estate sector, such as hidden fees, delays, and unreliable contractors. A system of checks and balances has been embedded in the project to promote accountability, timely delivery, and high construction standards.

This partnership represents a major step toward supporting Kenya’s national affordable housing agenda and meeting the growing demand for quality homes among middle-income earners and diaspora Kenyans.
