Manchester City have won the race to sign Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in a deal reported to be worth £65 million ($87 million).
The 26-year-old striker, who has scored 10 Premier League goals this season, has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with the English champions. Several top clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, were also interested in Semenyo, whose buyout clause was due to expire this weekend.
Semenyo said he was proud to join City and praised the club’s success under manager Pep Guardiola. He described City as a team with world-class players, top facilities and one of the greatest managers in football history.
Semenyo leaves Bournemouth after three years, ending his time at the club on a high note. His final match saw him score a dramatic stoppage-time winner in a 3–2 victory over Tottenham, ending Bournemouth’s 11-game winless run.
Manchester City hope the signing will strengthen their attack as they compete for trophies on four fronts in 2026. Guardiola’s side are currently six points behind league leaders Arsenal and remain in contention for the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League.
City officials believe Semenyo’s pace, strength and goal-scoring ability will add depth and firepower to the squad as the season enters a decisive stage.
