Kenyan Tour Operators Embark on Landmark Trip to Boost Uganda’s Tourism

A delegation of 30 Kenyan tour operators, travel agents, and tourism professionals began a week-long familiarization trip across Uganda on November 4, 2025, aimed at deepening collaboration and enhancing regional tourism in East Africa.

The initiative, officially launched by Ambassador Paul Mukumbya, Uganda’s Consul-General in Mombasa, follows the success of the 4th Edition of the Uganda-Kenya Coastal Tourism Conference held in Malindi, Kenya, in October 2025.

The trip is designed to allow Kenyan agents to experience Uganda’s diverse tourism offerings firsthand, enabling better marketing and packaging of the country’s attractions for both regional and international travelers.

Throughout the seven-day itinerary, participants are exploring Uganda’s top destinations, including the famed Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Other highlights include wildlife safaris, adventure tourism, rich cultural experiences, and agri-tourism sectors.

The tour underscores Uganda’s strong commitment to sustainable tourism, biodiversity conservation, and community-driven development, bolstering efforts to establish East Africa as a unified and competitive travel hub.

Ambassador Mukumbya stressed that such regional collaborations promote borderless travel and complementarity between Uganda and Kenya’s rich tourism resources, enhancing their global appeal and economic growth.

This milestone program not only strengthens ties between the two nations’ tourism stakeholders but also aims to significantly increase tourist arrivals and revenue, contributing to East Africa’s socio-economic development.
