KENYA: Six Dead, Dozens Injured in Tragic Road Accident on Londiani–Muhoroni Road

Six people lost their lives and 46 others were injured following a serious road accident on the Londiani–Muhoroni road on Tuesday morning. The accident happened at the Tunnel area when a passenger bus collided with a trailer.

According to Kericho County Police Commander James Ngetich, the bus, which belongs to Uwezo Sacco, rammed into the rear of the trailer under circumstances that are still unclear. Both vehicles were travelling towards Kisumu at the time of the crash.

Five passengers and the bus driver died on the spot due to the impact. Thirty passengers suffered serious injuries and were rushed to several hospitals in the area, including Londiani and Fortenan hospitals, for emergency treatment. Thirteen other passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated and discharged, while some escaped without harm.

Police officers, rescue teams, and members of the public responded quickly to help the victims and clear the road. The wreckage of the bus was later towed to Fortenan Police Station.

Commander Ngetich said investigations have been launched to establish the exact cause of the accident. He urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads, observe traffic rules, and avoid speeding to prevent accidents that can be avoided.

The Londiani–Muhoroni road has witnessed several accidents in the past, raising concerns about road safety in the area. Authorities have called on motorists to remain alert, especially on busy highways, to help reduce road crashes and save lives.
