KENYA: Seven Dead in Tragic Head-On Collision in Taita Taveta County

Seven people died on Sunday morning after a matatu collided head-on with a truck in Miasenyi, Taita Taveta County, along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

Eyewitnesses reported that the matatu, operated by Kinatwa Company, was traveling toward Mombasa and attempted to overtake other vehicles when it crashed into the truck. Among the deceased were the matatu driver and six passengers.

The bodies have been taken to Moi Referral Hospital-Voi morgue, while the injured have also been admitted to the same facility. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.

Authorities have urged drivers to remain vigilant, especially as traffic increases during the Christmas holiday season.

This tragic incident is a reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of road safety, particularly on busy highways.
