Police in Bomet County have arrested a 32-year-old woman accused of stabbing her husband to death using a broken beer bottle during a late-night fight.
The incident happened at a nightclub in Kapkwen trading centre. According to Bomet County Police Commandant Edward Ibwaga, the suspect, Sharon Cherotich, allegedly smashed a Guinness bottle and used its sharp edge to stab her 36-year-old husband in the neck.
Witnesses said the couple had been drinking together before an argument turned violent. The man started bleeding heavily and was rushed to Tenwek Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A bar attendant, Faith Chepngetich—popularly known as Tetio—told police that chaos erupted immediately after the stabbing. Some patrons attempted to confront the suspect, but she fled the scene before police arrived.
Officers launched a search and later arrested Cherotich at a hideout. Police processed the crime scene and recorded statements from several witnesses to help with the investigation.
The body of the deceased has been taken to the Tenwek Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem as police work to determine the exact cause of the dispute and gather more details about what led to the fatal confrontation.
Authorities say the suspect will be charged once investigations are complete.
