KeNHA to Close Part of Uhuru Highway at Night for Eight Days

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary night-time closure of a section of Uhuru Highway in Nairobi to allow for routine road maintenance works.

In a public notice issued on Friday, KeNHA said the affected section runs between the University of Nairobi Roundabout and the Westlands Roundabout. The closure will take place every night from Friday, February 6, 2026, to Friday, February 13, 2026, between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am.

KeNHA explained that the maintenance works are aimed at improving road safety and ensuring smoother traffic flow along the busy highway, which serves as a key link between Nairobi’s city centre, Westlands, and major outbound routes.

Motorists travelling towards Nakuru via Uhuru Highway and Chiromo Road have been advised to use alternative routes, including Nyerere Road, Arboretum Drive, Westlands Ring Road, and the Nairobi Expressway. Drivers heading towards Mombasa are encouraged to divert through Parklands Ring Road, Ojijo Road, Kipande Road, Limuru Road, University Way, or use the Nairobi Expressway.

The authority urged all road users to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with traffic police officers and marshals who will be deployed along the affected routes during the closure period.

KeNHA noted that the road will be fully reopened once the maintenance works are completed and assured motorists that normal traffic operations will resume immediately after the exercise.
