Kampala Woman Dies in Lodge After Night With Businessman – Police Launch Manhunt

Kampala, Uganda — Police in Nsangi, Kyengera Town Council, are investigating the mysterious death of a woman believed to be a commercial sex worker after a night spent with a man at a local lodge. The man, identified as Godi Muwonge, also known as Kabaka Aperu, is currently on the run.

According to police reports, Patricia (last name unknown), met Muwonge at a bar in Kyengera on the night of September 6, 2025. The two later checked into Sanyuka Lodge, located along the Masaka highway, around 1:00 AM on September 7, paying Shs10,000 for the room.

Lodge staff and other witnesses reported that the two were in high spirits and were seen leaving the premises multiple times to buy more alcohol. Patricia appeared heavily intoxicated as the night went on.

“She could barely stand,” said one lodge staff member who requested anonymity. “They kept going out for more drinks and returned each time more drunk.”

According to reports, on Tuesday night, September 10, Muwonge returned to the lodge with Patricia in an extremely weak state. Witnesses said he tried to revive her using milk, a common home remedy for alcohol poisoning in some communities. However, his efforts were unsuccessful.

Fearing the worst, Muwonge reportedly fled the scene, leaving Patricia unconscious in the room.

The following morning, lodge staff discovered Patricia’s lifeless body and immediately called the police. Officers from the Nsangi Police Division arrived on the scene, examined the room, and collected evidence — including the milk container used during the attempted revival.

Police later transferred the body to the City Mortuary in Kampala for a post-mortem examination, which will help determine the exact cause of death.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, confirmed that a death inquiry file has been opened. Authorities are now working to trace the suspect, Muwonge, who is believed to be well-known in local nightlife circles.

“We urge anyone who has information about his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station,” Onyango said. “We will not rest until the truth is uncovered and justice is served.”

According to her friends, Patricia worked as a commercial sex worker and was well known in the Kyengera area. She lived in Kasenge but often spent nights with clients in lodges around the city.

“She didn’t always bring clients home,” one friend shared. “She preferred to stay with them in other places, like lodges.”

Police are appealing to the public to help locate Godi Muwonge, a key suspect in the ongoing investigation. His alias, Kabaka Aperu, is reportedly well known among bar and lodge operators in the area.

Authorities stress that any information, no matter how small, could be crucial in finding him and determining what truly happened that night.
