Jerusalem/Sanaa, September 10, 2025 – Israeli fighter jets carried out a deadly airstrike on Wednesday targeting the media and military operations of Yemen’s Huthi rebels, killing and wounding several people, according to the rebel group.
Residents in Sanaa reported loud explosions as plumes of smoke rose over the Huthi-controlled capital, which has been under the group’s control for more than a decade.
In a statement, the Huthi-run Al-Masirah TV confirmed that Israel struck the Moral Guidance Headquarters, which serves as the rebels’ main media and communications hub. “There are martyrs, wounded, and several homes damaged as a result of the Israeli attack,” the channel reported.
The Israeli military said its air force targeted “military camps, the Huthi military public relations headquarters, and a fuel storage facility” used by the Iran-backed group.
The strikes also hit government buildings in Al-Jawf, a northern province bordering Saudi Arabia, AFP journalists reported.
Huthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said air defences were actively engaging Israeli aircraft. “Our air defences are currently confronting Israeli aircraft that are launching aggression against our country,” he wrote on Telegram.
This is the latest in a series of escalating clashes between Israel and the Huthis since the Gaza war began in October 2023. The Huthis, who say they are acting in solidarity with Palestinians, have repeatedly launched missiles and drones targeting Israel — including last week’s attack that injured a man at Ramon Airport in southern Israel.
Last month, Israeli strikes killed the Huthi prime minister and 11 senior officials, marking the deadliest attack on the group’s leadership since the start of the conflict.
Analysts say the latest strike signals Israel’s intent to weaken the Huthis’ military and communication capabilities, potentially escalating tensions in the region.
