Kasarani, Kenya – July 10, 2025 — Egypt retained their dominance in African sitting volleyball after defeating Rwanda in straight sets to win the men’s final of the 2025 Africa Sitting Volleyball Championship on Wednesday, July 9, at the Kasarani Indoor Stadium in Nairobi.
The Egyptian side outclassed Rwanda with scores of 25-21, 25-13, and 25-20 to secure the continental crown once again — extending their unbeaten run against Rwanda in competitive sitting volleyball to 16 years.
Despite the defeat, Rwanda’s men’s team still earned qualification to the 2025 Sitting Volleyball World Cup, set to take place in Fort Wayne, United States, later this year, alongside the Egyptian champions.
“It was a tough final. Egypt is a strong side, but our focus now shifts to preparing well for the World Cup,” said Rwanda’s head coach Mosaad Elaiuty after the match.
Meanwhile, Rwanda’s women’s team celebrated a major victory, defeating Kenya in the final to clinch the African title. Their win also booked them a spot at the 2026 World Sitting Volleyball Championships to be held in Hangzhou, China.
