Dar es Salaam Releases Water Rationing Schedule as Supply Challenges Continue

Residents of Dar es Salaam have been informed of a new water rationing schedule, with several areas expected to experience limited supply today.

According to a report by The Citizen, neighborhoods including Masaki, Mikocheni, Mwenge, and Sinza are among those listed in the rationing plan released on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

The schedule was issued to help residents plan their daily activities amid ongoing water supply challenges in the city.

Authorities responsible for water services said the rationing is necessary to manage available water fairly as demand continues to exceed supply in some areas. Factors such as maintenance work on water infrastructure and reduced water levels have contributed to the situation.

Residents in the affected areas have been advised to store water in advance and use it carefully during the rationing period. Officials also urged the public to follow updates from water authorities, as schedules may change depending on system conditions and repair progress.

The water rationing exercise is part of broader efforts by city authorities to stabilize supply while long-term solutions are implemented to improve Dar es Salaam’s water distribution network.

Residents are encouraged to remain patient and cooperate as the government works to address the challenges.
