KENYA: Church Leader in Court for Allegedly Defiling His Own Son for Four Years

An Anglican Church leader from Eldoret has been charged in court for allegedly defiling his biological son over a period of four years.

The man, Ronald Kiprop Ewambok, who is a lay leader in the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) in Uasin Gishu County, denied the charges when he appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Peter Ireri.

The prosecution accused Ewambok of repeatedly sodomizing his son, who is now 14 years old. The shocking abuse is said to have happened on various dates between December 2019 and 2023 at their home in Kamulat village, Turbo sub-county.

The state has assembled a strong case against him, with six key witnesses ready to testify. The main witness is the victim—his own son.

The court set bail for the accused at Ksh. 200,000 with one surety of a similar amount. This means he can be released from custody if he pays that money and finds someone to guarantee he will return for his trial.

The case will be mentioned again on September 15, 2025, to schedule the full hearing.
