Today on Saturday, July 12, 2025 – London, US R&B singer Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to charges linked to a nightclub assault in London in 2023.
The 36-year-old appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, July 11, 2025, where he was formally charged with causing actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon — a bottle prosecutors say he used to attack music producer Abraham Diaw during an “unprovoked attack” at Tape nightclub in central London.
Brown had already denied a more serious charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm in the same case.
During the court appearance, he spoke only to confirm his name and enter his pleas. His co-accused, 38-year-old Omololu Akinlolu, also pleaded not guilty to the same charges, having earlier denied attempting to cause grievous harm.
The judge scheduled the trial to begin on October 26, 2026.
About 20 supporters sat behind the courtroom dock during the brief hearing. As Brown exited the courtroom, two fans shouted, “We love you, Chris.”
Brown, who is known for chart-topping hits like “Run It,” “Loyal,” and “Under the Influence,” was granted bail in May after posting a hefty £5 million security bond (approximately UGX 874 billion) to allow him to continue with his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour.
He had been arrested in Manchester earlier this year upon returning to the UK for the first time since the nightclub incident.
