Liam Rosenior has called on Chelsea FC to “forget the noise” and stay focused as he fights to salvage the club’s season following a damaging 3-0 defeat to Everton FC.
The loss at Hill Dickinson Stadium marked Chelsea’s fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions, capping off a disastrous run that has seen the Blues struggle for form and confidence.
In just 11 days, Chelsea have endured a humiliating 8-2 aggregate exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain, followed by a home defeat to Newcastle United and the latest setback against Everton.
The result significantly dents Chelsea’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League. With Manchester United dropping points and Liverpool FC also losing earlier, Chelsea had a golden opportunity to climb into the top four—but failed to capitalize.
Everton’s victory was powered by a brace from Beto and a stunning strike from Iliman Ndiaye, leaving Chelsea with little response.
Despite winning the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Conference League last season, Chelsea now sit sixth in the Premier League, just one point behind Liverpool, with only seven matches remaining.
Rosenior, who took over from Enzo Maresca in January, admitted he is still adapting to the pressures of managing a club of Chelsea’s stature.
“I’m learning about this club. It’s a massive club,” he said.
“There’s been a lot of noise, a lot of negative noise, rightfully so, about our performances in the last week.”
However, the coach remained optimistic, pointing to the team’s league record under his tenure.
“We’ve had 10 games in the league together as a group. We’ve got 17 points. I think we’re fourth in that time,” he added.
“So we have to forget the noise, keep our confidence and composure.”
Rosenior believes the international break could come at the perfect time, giving the squad an opportunity to regroup, recover, and refocus ahead of a crucial run-in that will define their season.
