Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has agreed to extend his contract with the Spanish champions for two more years, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2031. The announcement was made on Friday, with the formal signing expected in the coming days.
A product of Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy, 22-year-old Lopez has been a key player since making his first-team debut in the 2023/24 season. He has made 113 appearances for the club and scored 29 goals, becoming an integral part of the squad.
Lopez has also been a regular for the Spanish national team, playing a role in their Euro 2024 triumph.
His contract extension joins a series of recent renewals for other key Barcelona talents, including Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Gavi, Pedri, and Pau Cubarsi, signaling the club’s commitment to securing its core players for the future.
Lopez is expected to help Hansi Flick’s side strengthen their lead at the top of La Liga, with a crucial match against Elche on Saturday.
