William Ruto has called on young people in Kenya to avoid being used by politicians for violence, propaganda, or political battles.
Speaking during the launch of a digital hub in Bondo, the President urged the youth to focus on opportunities that can improve their lives instead of allowing themselves to be manipulated for political interests.
Ruto said that for many years, young people in the country have been used as tools by politicians to create chaos, spread propaganda online, or fight political rivals. He stressed that such practices harm the future of the youth and prevent them from achieving meaningful progress.
According to the President, empowering young people through jobs, technology, and entrepreneurship is the best way to stop political exploitation.
He pointed to several government initiatives aimed at supporting youth development, including the construction of digital hubs across the country, the affordable housing programme, and labour export opportunities that allow young Kenyans to work abroad.
Ruto revealed that more than 540,000 Kenyan youths are currently working in foreign countries, gaining income and skills that help improve their lives and support the national economy.
He also noted that over 260 Members of Parliament are working to establish ICT hubs in their constituencies to equip young people with digital skills and open doors for employment in the technology sector.
The President further encouraged young people to explore opportunities in the creative economy, urging them to use social media platforms to promote their talents and grow their businesses.
He warned that politicians who recruit youth to cause unrest or attack opponents are only advancing their personal interests.
Ruto therefore advised young people to focus on building their future, saying they should reject any attempt by political leaders to misuse their energy and intelligence.
He emphasized that when youth invest their skills in education, technology, and entrepreneurship, they can transform not only their lives but also contribute to the growth of the country’s economy.
The President concluded by urging young Kenyans to remain responsible citizens and to use the opportunities available to create a better future for themselves and the nation.
