Christians from different parts of northern Uganda gathered in Pakwach to celebrate Omach Day, a special religious event that honors faith, sacrifice, and the strong Catholic heritage of the region.
Pilgrims traveled from the West Nile, Lango, and Acholi regions to take part in the celebration. Many believers attended a large mass, where they prayed together, sang hymns, and listened to sermons from church leaders.
The event focused on the theme “Pilgrims of Hope Now Reached by the Living Bread,” encouraging Christians to strengthen their faith and remain hopeful during difficult times. Religious leaders reminded the congregation about the importance of unity, prayer, and sacrifice in their spiritual lives.
Omach Day also serves as a time for Christians to remember the history of Catholicism in the region and the sacrifices made by early missionaries and local believers who helped spread the faith.
During the celebration, pilgrims shared testimonies, prayed for peace in their communities, and asked for blessings for their families and the nation.
Church leaders encouraged the faithful to continue living according to Christian values such as love, compassion, and service to others. They said gatherings like Omach Day help strengthen faith and bring communities together.
The annual celebration continues to attract many pilgrims each year, making it one of the important religious events for Christians in northern Uganda.
