UGANDA: Kampala Schools Record Improved PLE Performance in 2025 Compared to 2024

Kampala schools have registered improved results in the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), showing progress compared to the previous year and raising hopes for better learning outcomes in the city.

When the results were released, many schools across Kampala were filled with joy and emotion as pupils, parents, and teachers celebrated the improved performance. The results reflected better preparation, increased learner commitment, and stronger support from teachers and school administrators.

Educationists say the improved grades point to gradual recovery after challenges faced in previous years, including learning disruptions and large class sizes. Several schools reported higher numbers of candidates scoring in the top divisions, an indication that teaching and learning methods are steadily improving.

Teachers attributed the better results to closer supervision of learners, regular assessments, and increased involvement of parents in supporting pupils at home. Some schools also credited remedial programs and extra coaching for helping struggling learners improve their performance.

Parents welcomed the results, saying they have renewed confidence in Kampala schools and the education system as a whole. Many expressed hope that the positive trend will continue into secondary education.

However, education stakeholders cautioned that despite the improvement in Kampala, disparities still exist across the country. They called on the Ministry of Education and Sports to strengthen support for underperforming regions to ensure equal learning opportunities for all pupils.

The 2025 PLE results have once again highlighted the importance of consistent teaching, learner discipline, and community involvement in improving education standards. As Kampala schools celebrate better performance, stakeholders are urging continued investment in education to sustain and build on these gains.
