Ruto Urges Kenyan Ambassadors to Lead in Championing Kenya’s Vision for a First-World Economy

President William Ruto has called on Kenya’s ambassadors and high commissioners to play a pivotal role in advancing the government’s mission of transforming the country into a first-world economy. Speaking at State House, Nairobi, on Tuesday, Ruto met with the envoys and officially dispatched them to their respective stations, urging them to safeguard national interests and promote mutually beneficial international relations.

In his address, President Ruto highlighted the ambitious development goals set by the government and stressed the need for collective effort in realizing the vision of elevating Kenya’s status to that of a first-world nation. “Those of us serving within the Republic and those of us serving outside Kenya are working collectively towards a common goal of elevating our country to a first-world status,” he affirmed.

The President also outlined the government’s robust infrastructure framework, which will be key in supporting the transition to a first-world economy. He pointed to the recent milestone achieved on Monday when the government raised Ksh. 106 billion through the Kenya Pipeline Company Initial Public Offering (IPO), with the funds earmarked exclusively for the development of large-scale infrastructure projects.

“These funds are not going towards paying debt, salaries, or recurrent expenditure. This money is dedicated to building the infrastructure that will elevate our country to the next level,” President Ruto said.

The meeting saw the participation of a wide range of Kenya’s top diplomats, including Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri (Türkiye), Lucy Kiruthu (Thailand), Henry Wambuma (Burundi), and Catherine Kirumba Karemu (Tanzania), among others. The President emphasized the importance of their role in promoting the country’s development agenda on the global stage.

Additionally, Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei was present, reinforcing the government’s commitment to international diplomacy as an integral part of Kenya’s growth trajectory.
