President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has officially launched the NRM Digital App, a new mobile application designed to enhance communication, coordination, and information sharing among party members across Uganda.
The colorful launch ceremony took place recently at Entebbe State House, where senior government officials, NRM Secretariat staff, and regional party mobilizers gathered to witness what officials described as “a new chapter in digital political engagement.”
The newly introduced NRM App is available for download on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, allowing users to access real-time party updates, news, official documents, and information about NRM flag bearers and leadership structures at all levels.
According to officials from the NRM Secretariat, the app will also serve as an interactive platform for members to register, verify their membership, and participate in digital discussions about government programs and party activities.
“The NRM is a mass organization, and to remain effective in today’s digital era, we must communicate directly and efficiently with our people,” said President Museveni during the launch.
The President added that this application will help bridge the gap between the party leadership and our supporters in the villages, districts, and regions. It is part of our strategy to modernize political mobilization and ensure transparency within our structures.
Party Secretary-General Rt. Richard Todwong emphasized that the app is a tool for inclusivity, helping to connect local communities with national decision-making processes.
He noted that the platform will enable the youth, local leaders, and diaspora supporters to follow NRM activities closely and contribute ideas toward national development.
“The NRM has always been rooted in grassroots mobilization. With this digital innovation, even a party member in the remotest part of Uganda can now access the same information as one in Kampala,” Todwong said.
The NRM App features sections for news updates, government achievements, policy briefs, and membership verification. It will also include multimedia features to live stream major party events and presidential addresses, ensuring members stay informed.
President Museveni, while demonstrating the app on a tablet during the launch, encouraged Ugandans especially the youth to embrace technology not just for entertainment, but for national development and civic engagement.
“We must use technology to organize, educate, and mobilize for production,” politics is about ideas and service, not confusion. With this app, we shall communicate better and eliminate distortions that often come from rumor-mongers,” Museveni said.
Many NRM supporters have praised the move as part of the government’s broader effort to digitalize governance and political operations, aligning with Uganda’s Vision 2040 and the Digital Transformation Roadmap.
The NRM Secretariat revealed that future updates will include feedback channels, allowing members to share development ideas directly with party officials and district coordinators.
To get the latest updates on NRM activities, users can download the NRM App from the Play Store or App Store. Once installed, members can access party news, flag bearers’ profiles, group forums, and key policy documents right from their mobile devices.
President Museveni concluded the event by calling on Ugandans to “embrace innovation and patriotism in equal measure,” urging them to use digital tools responsibly to advance peace, unity, and development.
