President Ruto Slams Leaders Spreading Negativity, Emphasizes Kenya’s Development Path to First World Status

President William Ruto has once again defended his administration’s development agenda, strongly condemning political leaders who, according to him, are spreading negativity and hindering the country’s growth. Speaking during a church service in Samburu County on November 9, 2025, President Ruto lashed out at leaders who continue to undermine the nation’s progress, describing them as regressive forces that threaten the gains Kenya has made over the years.

“I see many people speaking negatively about our country, people confessing only pessimism about our future. We have a nation like no other, a blessed nation, and we must work together to build it,” Ruto said. “If you’re a leader and you don’t believe in Kenya, then you are dragging us behind with your negativity.”

Ruto’s remarks come at a time when political opposition to his government’s ambitious plans is mounting. His vision to elevate Kenya to First World status by 2055 has been met with skepticism, with some critics questioning the abandonment of the original Vision 2030. However, the president remains firm in his belief that a united, forward-looking Kenya will overcome the challenges it faces.

“We have been stuck in the third world for too long,” President Ruto continued, “and now, it’s time to rise. With the efforts of our hands and the unity of our people, we will transform this nation. By 2055, Kenya will be a First World country.”

His administration has faced significant criticism, with some political leaders questioning the feasibility of such ambitious goals, especially in light of ongoing socio-economic challenges. Despite this, Ruto has consistently emphasized that the country’s success lies in the collective effort of all Kenyans, stressing that those who continue to cast doubt on the nation’s potential are doing a disservice to the citizens and the development agenda.

In previous speeches, Ruto has emphasized his commitment to transforming Kenya’s infrastructure, economy, and social systems, with a clear focus on improving sectors such as education, healthcare, and manufacturing. While acknowledging the difficulties, he remains optimistic about Kenya’s potential, arguing that progress is inevitable as long as the country maintains unity and a shared vision for the future.

The president’s long-term plan for the country focuses on rapid economic growth, infrastructural advancements, and creating a competitive job market for the youth. He has repeatedly urged Kenyans not to succumb to political divisiveness, calling for a collective effort in realizing the country’s aspirations.

Despite opposition voices calling for a reevaluation of Vision 2030, President Ruto is confident that his administration’s bold plans will steer the country to new heights, firmly believing that the path to a First World Kenya is within reach.

“We have made tremendous progress, and we will not be swayed by those who wish to see us fail,” Ruto concluded. “Kenya is destined for greatness, and I will continue to work towards that dream every single day.”
