Dar es Salaam — For the first time in a long time, Tanzanians will experience price stability in petroleum products as fuel prices remain unchanged for two consecutive months in November. This rare stability comes as a breath of fresh air amid ongoing economic challenges affecting transport costs and daily expenses.
According to the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), the cap prices for petrol, diesel, and kerosene on the Tanzanian mainland will remain steady as they were in October, starting Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
In Dar es Salaam, petrol will continue selling at Sh2,752 per litre
, diesel at Sh2,704, and kerosene at Sh2,774. Similarly, in Tanga, petrol and diesel prices stand at Sh2,813 and Sh2,766, respectively, while in Mtwara, they are set at Sh2,844 and Sh2,797.
The stability is largely attributed to recent trends in the global oil market alongside the Tanzanian shilling’s steady performance against the US dollar. EWURA has reminded fuel retailers and wholesalers to strictly comply with the cap prices, warning of legal consequences for those charging beyond the limits.
Additionally, the authority is urging consumers to demand receipts printed by Electronic Fiscal Pump Printers (EFPP) and to buy from stations displaying clear price boards, both measures geared towards promoting transparency and consumer protection.
While fuel prices normally fluctuate monthly with global market changes, industry analysts view this two-month stability as short-term relief that could help ease the burden on the transport sector and everyday consumers, especially with the high-demand December holiday season approaching.
Nonetheless, prices remain vulnerable to shifts in global supply and shipping costs, meaning motorists and businesses will need to stay alert to future changes.
