The Immigration Service Department has issued a directive requiring all foreigners living and working in Tanzania to verify their residence and work documents.
Speaking to journalists, Immigration Department Chief Spokesperson Paul Mselle confirmed that the public notice circulating online is authentic and urged compliance from employers, business owners, and foreign residents.
According to the directive, all foreigners must present their residence permits, work permits, and any other relevant documents at their nearest immigration office for verification.
The exercise is aimed at ensuring that all expatriates in the country are legally documented and working in accordance with Tanzanian laws.
Mselle emphasized that the verification process is not meant to intimidate foreigners but to streamline records, curb illegal immigration, and protect lawful residents.
He added that employers are responsible for ensuring their foreign workers complete the process within the given timeframe, or they risk penalties.
The Immigration Department said the exercise is part of a wider government effort to improve data on foreigners in the country and strengthen border security.
Foreign residents are advised to begin the process immediately to avoid last-minute congestion and possible legal action for non-compliance.
