Tanzania’s Tourism Revenue Grows 10% as Park Visitors Reach 538,000

Dar es Salaam, Sept. 6, 2025 – Tanzania’s tourism industry recorded strong growth in 2025, with earnings rising by 10.3% compared to last year, driven by increasing visitor numbers to the country’s national parks.

According to the latest report, 538,000 tourists visited Tanzania’s parks, up from previous years. The northern tourism circuit, which includes iconic destinations such as the Serengeti National Park and Mount Kilimanjaro, continued to attract the most visitors.

The growth comes as Tanzania works to revitalize its tourism sector after disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and regional travel challenges. Authorities say the increase in park visitors is expected to boost local economies, create jobs, and support conservation efforts across the country.

In addition to the northern parks, other regions are seeing gradual increases in visitor numbers, particularly in wildlife-rich areas such as Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park.

Tourism officials also highlighted the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure, including road upgrades, airport expansions, and better accommodation facilities, to ensure a smoother experience for both local and international tourists.

The tourism sector remains a key contributor to Tanzania’s economy, alongside agriculture and mining, and is seen as a priority for economic recovery and sustainable development.
