Excitement is building across Uganda as African music icon Koffi Olomide arrives in Kampala ahead of the highly anticipated Legends of Sound – Afrigo at 50 concert. The grand celebration, set for Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Millennium Park, Lugogo, will honor Afrigo Band’s incredible 50-year journey in the Ugandan music industry.
The legendary Congolese singer, known for his energetic performances and timeless hits, touched down at Entebbe International Airport, where he was welcomed by Afrigo Band leader Moses Matovu and Talent Africa Group CEO Aly Allibhai the brains behind the event’s organization.
“This collaboration between Koffi Olomide and Afrigo Band will be a celebration of African music heritage like never before,” said Aly Allibhai. “We’re bringing together two musical giants for a once-in-a-lifetime show.”
The Legends of Sound – Afrigo at 50 concert promises to be more than just a concert it’s a musical milestone that blends Ugandan classics with Congolese soukous in a show-stopping performance featuring state-of-the-art stage production, live band arrangements, and surprise guest appearances.
Afrigo Band, Uganda’s oldest and most beloved live band, will share the stage with Koffi Olomide in a night expected to bring nostalgia, unity, and joy to thousands of fans.
Born Antoine Christophe Agbepa Mumba, Koffi Olomide is one of Africa’s most decorated musicians, with a career spanning over four decades. The soukous legend has released more than 30 albums, won several Kora Awards, and performed on the world’s biggest stages.
Known for creating the Tcha Tcho style mixing traditional African rhythms with modern beats Koffi continues to be a global ambassador of African music, and his performance in Uganda marks a return to one of his strongest East African fan bases.
Afrigo Band’s golden jubilee is not just a celebration of their longevity, but a reflection of Uganda’s evolving music industry. With hit songs like Jim, Speed, and Oswadde Nnyo, Afrigo has played a vital role in shaping Uganda’s sound for generations.
