Iran Confirms Over 1,060 Dead in Israel War, Says Final Toll May Rise

Iran has officially confirmed that more than 1,060 people died in the recent 12-day war with Israel, and the number could go higher.

The announcement was made on July 8, 2025, by Saeed Ohadi, head of Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, during a live broadcast on Iranian state TV.

“We may see the death toll reach 1,100, given the serious injuries some people are still fighting,” warning that more deaths could be recorded in the coming days,” Ohadi said.

The war between Iran and Israel saw multiple Israeli airstrikes on Iran’s strategic sites, including air defense systems, military bases, and nuclear facilities.

Although Iranian officials initially played down the damage, they are now slowly admitting to the high human cost and the destruction caused.

However, Iranian authorities did not reveal how many weapons, buildings, or military systems were destroyed, keeping many details secret.

Separately, the Human Rights Activists (HRA) group based in the United States released a broader and more detailed report. According to HRA, 1,190 people were killed during the war.

These included, 436 civilians (ordinary people), 435 security personnel, and over 4,475 people injured.

Iran and Israel reached a ceasefire two weeks ago, but the true extent of the damage both human and material is still becoming clear. Families across Iran are mourning, and fears remain high as tensions between the two countries continue.
