Nairobi, March 23, 2026 – Fifteen Kenyans evacuated from Iran amid the escalating Middle East conflict have safely returned to Kenya after a coordinated emergency operation.
The evacuees arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Sunday, where emotional reunions unfolded with family members. They were flown via Türkiye to ensure safe passage from the conflict zone.
Government officials from the State Department for Diaspora Affairs received the group and facilitated a debriefing session, along with immediate psychosocial support to address stress and trauma experienced during the evacuation.
The operation was led jointly by the State Department for Diaspora Affairs and Kenya’s diplomatic missions in Tehran and Ankara, as part of Kenya’s broader commitment to protect citizens abroad in regions affected by conflict.
